Monsillage is a niche perfume house founded in 2009. In her microlaboratory in Montréal, Isabelle Michaud uses essential oils and aroma molecules to create olfactory forms that are intimately related to her life and travel memories. Meticulous and passionate, she mixes her formulas with the highest quality raw materials, one drop at a time, until she obtains the desired universe, then bottles them by hand in her workshop.
Memories emerge of that outdoor market at the foot of a cliff, dotted by the beauty of women wearing the traditional indigo cloth adorned with horizontal stripes denoting their marital status. This bittersweet scarlet juice with dried hibiscus flower, the dampness trapped in arid soil, the exotic wood lovingly crafted, the grain of stretched hides… Such is the olfactory landscape painted by this fragrance, meant to capture memories of Africa: textured, raw, and authentic.
